WINNEMUCCA — A man digging in the yard punctured a gas line near his W. Thomas Canyon Rd. residence today (Dec. 9). He was not injured but the puncture did disrupt the neighborhood during the lunch hour. The Winnemucca Rural Fire Department responded and secured the area until the utility company arrived to seal the leak.
Twenty-four hours before digging call 811 so professionals can locate utility lines before the project begins.
WINNEMUCCA — A 15-year-old male was injured today (Dec. 9) when he drove his dirt bike into a passing SUV – sending him first into the vehicle’s windshield then onto the pavement.
According to Police Chief Eric Silva, the young man was riding without a helmet and had substantial injuries.
WINNEMUCCA — A man on the railroad tracks near the Bridge St. crossing was killed after being struck by a passing train. The incident occurred Sunday evening (Oct. 23).
Aaron Hunt, Union Pacific Railroad spokesman, said, “Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the deceased.”
WINNEMUCCA — A two-vehicle accident shut down Grass Valley Road near Tycana early Friday (Oct. 21). The first vehicle was a passenger car; the second was a commercial vehicle carrying glass. WINNEMUCCA — The Winnemucca Police Department is investigating a collision between a passenger car and a fire truck from Winnemucca Rural Fire Department. The collision occured in the intersection of Baud and Fourth Streets late in the afternoon. One person from the car was transported to Humboldt General Hospital. Additional information is expected to be released on Monday (Oct. 3).
WINNEMUCCA — The woman who was struck by a pickup at Khoury’s Market parking lot on Sept. 17 died early Friday evening (Sept. 23) at Renown Medical Center in Reno. She was identified by authorities as Antonia Solis, 73.
The charge against the driver of the vehicle, John M. Farley, will be amended by the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office to DUI causing death.
WINNEMUCCA — Two motorcyclists were injured on Thursday (Sept. 22) in non-collision wrecks. The incident occurred 27 miles north of Winnemucca — two miles north of the Paradise Summit — at approximately 9:50 a.m.
The wrecks were investigated by Trooper Johnny Peoples of the Nevada Highway Patrol.
WINNEMUCCA — An adult woman who was struck by a pickup truck this morning (Sept. 17) was transported by air ambulance to Reno with potentially life-threatening injuries.
According to Winnemucca Police Chief Eric Silva, the accident occurred as the woman walked across the Khoury’s Market parking lot shortly before 7 a.m.
